Takuya Yamanaka

Description
Takuya Yamanaka is a Japanese game creator, scriptwriter, and producer known for his work as an original creator across mixed-media projects, including anime, music, and video games. He was born on March 27, 1987. His career is defined by a focus on character-driven narratives that often explore psychological depth, personal struggles, and the complexities of human connection.

Yamanaka first gained recognition as a scenario writer in the video game industry, notably working on The Caligula Effect, a 2016 role-playing game known for its exploration of themes like trauma, identity, and the desire to escape reality. His work on this project established his reputation for crafting intricate stories centered on troubled characters.

One of his most significant original creations is the multimedia project MILGRAM, created in collaboration with vocaloid producer DECO*27. Launched in 2020, MILGRAM is a music and video project that combines a prison setting with a voting mechanic, where viewers act as jurors to judge the sins of ten prisoners. Yamanaka served as the original story writer and executive producer for the project, with his scripting work extending to the character song CDs released for each prisoner. This project exemplifies his recurring interest in morality, memory, and the ambiguity of guilt.

Yamanaka is also the co-creator, alongside Pony Canyon, of the mixed-media project Utagoe wa Mille-Feuille (Harmony of Mille-Feuille), which began in April 2022. Centered on the theme of a cappella music and high school girls overcoming personal insecurities, the project received an anime television series adaptation. For the anime, which aired from July to September 2025, Yamanaka was responsible for series composition and wrote the scripts for all ten episodes. His involvement spanned from the project's original concept to the detailed execution of its anime adaptation.

Beyond these headline projects, Yamanaka has maintained an active role in the industry as a game creator and scriptwriter, with credits listed on various music and media projects under his name. His body of work demonstrates a consistent ability to build narrative-driven worlds across different media, often focusing on the internal conflicts and emotional bonds of his characters.
