Tao Tsuchiya

Description
Tao Tsuchiya is a Japanese actress and model who has also taken on select roles as a voice actor in anime and film dubbing. Born in Tokyo on February 3, 1995, she began her entertainment career after winning a special award in the Miss Phoenix audition hosted by major companies including Sony Music in 2005. Her early work included magazine modeling and a range of television and film appearances, establishing her as a prominent live-action performer. She studied dance at the Japan Women's College of Physical Education, a background that has complemented her work in physically expressive roles.

While primarily known for her live-action work, Tsuchiya has contributed her voice to a small number of notable animated projects. Her first major role in anime was providing the voice for a younger version of the protagonist, Satoru Fujinuma, in the 2016 television anime series Erased. This role allowed her to bridge her on-screen presence with voice performance for an animated counterpart.

Tsuchiya's most significant role in a full-length animated feature came in 2021 with the film Sing a Bit of Harmony. In this original anime movie by director Yasuhiro Yoshiura, she voiced the lead character, Shion Ashimori. Shion is an advanced artificial intelligence with a singing program, transferred into a high school student body to observe human happiness. The role required Tsuchiya to perform both the speaking and singing voice of the character, a key element of the film's plot and emotional core. This performance marked her as the lead voice actor in a major anime production.

Beyond anime, her voice acting work extends to Japanese dubbing of foreign films. She provided the Japanese voice for the character Félicie in the 2016 animated film Ballerina and for Charlie Watson in the 2018 live-action film Bumblebee. Her voice acting roles, though infrequent, demonstrate a selective engagement with the medium, often taking on central characters in projects that combine her skills in acting and performance.
