Ceez

Description
Ceez is the Japanese creator of the light novel series, manga, and anime franchise In the Land of Leadale. The individual began as an online writer, first serializing the story that would become In the Land of Leadale from November 2010 to December 2012 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Years after this initial web serialization, the series was acquired for print publication by Enterbrain, which began releasing light novel volumes under its Famitsu Bunko imprint starting in January 2019. The print editions feature illustrations by artist Tenmaso.

The In the Land of Leadale franchise expanded into a manga adaptation in July 2019, serialized through ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki PlayStation Comic Web website. For the manga version, Ceez is credited as the original story creator, with Ryō Suzukaze handling composition and Dashio Tsukimi providing the artwork. The story was later adapted into a 12-episode anime television series produced by Maho Film, which aired from January 5 to March 23, 2022.

In reflections on the work, Ceez has noted that the transition from web novel to print publication occurred a decade after the original online serialization, describing the subsequent rapid sequence of events including the manga serialization, light novel ranking achievements, and anime adaptation as a departure from their previous daily routine. The creator has expressed appreciation for the collaborative nature of the publication process, acknowledging contributions from editors, illustrators, and other involved parties. The central narrative follows a young woman who, after dying in the real world, awakens in the body of her avatar from a VRMMORPG, only to discover that two centuries have passed within the game world since her last login.
