Eiji Kotōge
Description
Eiji Kotōge is a Japanese entertainer primarily known for his work as a comedian, forming one half of the popular comedy duo Viking. Born on June 6, 1976, in Ōtō, Fukuoka Prefecture, he serves as the tsukkomi, or the sharp-tongued straight man, of the duo, and is responsible for writing their comedic material. His career in entertainment began after he met his future partner, Mizuki Nishimura, at a driving school, and they formally formed their unit in 1996 after coincidentally enrolling in the same class at the NSC Osaka comedy school. The duo, who are represented by Sony Music Artists, gained significant national recognition after winning the prestigious King of Conte competition in 2012.
While Kotōge's career is firmly rooted in comedy and television presenting, he has also contributed his voice to animated projects. His voice acting credits include the role of Stenonychosaurus in the original short-form anime television series Dinosaur Biyori, which aired in 2021. The series, produced by Fanworks and Aniplex, features the daily lives of three dinosaurs sharing an apartment, with Kotōge voicing the intelligent but praise-seeking and exercise-averse Stenonychosaurus. Other voice roles include Ufun Ahan in the 2025 film Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers and Monmonbô in the 2018 film Natsume's Book of Friends the Movie: Ephemeral Bond.
Information regarding a broader body of voice acting work, recurring collaborations with specific anime directors or studios, or formal accolades for his voice performances is not readily available in the public record. His professional recognition stems primarily from his achievements in comedy, such as winning the King of Conte and his numerous regular appearances on variety television programs.
