He is a male creator whose professional career began after a formative period spent cultivating a deep appreciation for animation, particularly the works of Kyoto Animation and the character designs of artists like Yukiko Horiguchi.

His path to becoming a professional manga artist involved a significant career crossroads. While a university student, his early short works were published in Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine starting in 2009, leading to his first serialized manga, Aquarium, which ran from 2009 to 2011. After graduating, he was offered both a position at a major animation studio and a serialization opportunity for his work Yumekuri. Unable to pursue both simultaneously, he chose to focus on his manga career, a decision he has identified as a pivotal moment in his life.

Hiro is credited as the original creator for the anime Akebi's Sailor Uniform and the anime Yumekuri. His body of work includes several manga series and art collections. His notable serialized works include Aquarium, published in two volumes by Houbunsha; Yumekuri, which ran in Monthly Comic Alive from 2012 to 2017 and was published in five volumes by Media Factory; and his most prominent work, Akebi's Sailor Uniform, which began serialization in Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump online platform in August 2016 and has been collected into multiple tankōbon volumes. He has also contributed character designs for the light novel and manga adaptation of Super Cub.

Akebi's Sailor Uniform represents his first major work with Shueisha. The series originated from a proposal by an editor at Weekly Young Jump, though Hiro was initially hesitant due to the demanding schedule of a weekly magazine. The editor ultimately offered him the flexibility of a web-based publication, which allowed him to proceed. The series follows Komichi Akebi, a middle school girl who pursues her dream of wearing a sailor-style school uniform. The character and setting were partly inspired by the artist's mother, who had hand-sewn uniforms for him to use as reference models for his illustrations. The series achieved commercial success, with its collected volumes surpassing one million copies in print, and it garnered acclaim for its delicate art style and nuanced portrayal of adolescent growth and friendship.

The work was adapted into a 12-episode anime television series produced by CloverWorks, which aired from January to March 2022. The anime adaptation was noted for its high production values and received recognition, including a nomination for Best Animation at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2023.
