Satoko Narita

Description
Satoko Narita, born in 1981 in Akita Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese novelist best known as the original creator of the children's fantasy book series Rakudai Majo. She made her professional debut after winning the first Poplar Publishing Dream Smash! Grand Prize, a contest that launched her career as a published author.

Narita is the author of the Rakudai Majo series, whose title translates to Failure Witch. The first volume was published by Poplar Publishing in October 2006 under its Poplar Pocket Bunko imprint, with illustrations provided by artist Senno Enaga. As of late 2013, the series comprised seventeen main novels and one volume of short stories, and it has remained in publication since its debut. The series is classified as fantasy and targets a children's demographic.

The popularity of Narita's novel series led to its adaptation into an anime film. Titled Rakudai Majo: Fuuka to Yami no Majo, the film was produced by the notable animation studio Production I.G and released in Japanese theaters on March 31, 2023. For the film adaptation, Narita is officially credited as the original work's author. By the time of the film's release, the novel series had achieved significant commercial success, with over 1.6 million copies in print. The existence of the Rakudai Majo series and its subsequent anime adaptation represents Narita's primary contribution to the anime and manga industry as an original creator.
