Kiseki Himura

Description
Kiseki Himura, also known by the romanization Kiseki Himura, is a Japanese manga artist, illustrator, and doujin creator. He was born in Hokkaido, Japan, and currently resides in Kanagawa Prefecture. Himura began his career in 2003 and operates under the name of his personal doujin circle, Himura Dairy Industry (比村乳業).

Himura is best known as the original creator of the series Tawawa on Monday (Getsuyobi no Tawawa). The series began in February 2015 as a weekly set of illustrations posted on his Twitter account. Conceived during a period of creative difficulty, the project was intended as a simple offering to provide慰藉 to workers at the start of the week. The positive response from viewers led to it becoming a regular Monday feature, eventually growing into a full-fledged franchise.

The popularity of the Tawawa on Monday illustrations led to an anime adaptation. The first season of the anime, also titled Tawawa on Monday, was produced by studio Pine Jam and aired in 2016. A sequel, Tawawa on Monday Two, was produced by studio Yokohama Animation Laboratory and released in 2021. In the credits for these anime productions, Himura is officially listed as the author of the original manga.

Before achieving mainstream success, Himura was an active figure in the Japanese doujin (self-published) community. He is recognized as the creator of the character Archer子, a gender-swapped version of the character Archer from the Fate series. His doujin series based on this concept, SWORD DANCERS, gained a notable following within the Type-Moon fan community. He has also produced doujinshi for other popular franchises, including Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and Kantai Collection, with his ship girl anthology titled 魔性之潮.

Himura has contributed to commercial projects as an illustrator and character designer. He provided the original character designs for the original anime Just Because! in 2017. He also illustrated the official manga adaptation of Sword Art Online Progressive, which was serialized in Dengeki G's Comic. Additionally, his end card illustrations have appeared in numerous television anime series, including Rinne no Lagrange, The Eccentric Family, and Nekomonogatari White.

Himura's artistic identity is characterized by a distinct visual style. He frequently uses blue as the primary color for his line art, a technique originally used for rough drafts that became his trademark. The art is noted for its ability to convey a sense of narrative and sensuality with very little to no dialogue, relying instead on character expressions, body language, and contextual details. He has cited the works of Kitsune Tennouji, particularly Orfina, as a major influence, along with Shingo Adachi and manga such as Vinland Saga, Drifters, and Historie.

In the broader anime and manga industry, Himura represents a successful transition from independent online creation to a commercially adapted multimedia franchise. His work on Tawawa on Monday is a prominent example of a property that originated on social media and evolved into a published manga and animated series.
