Gustavo Berriel is a Brazilian actor and voice actor, born in Rio de Janeiro on June 15, 1986. He studied journalism at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and theatrical interpretation at the Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras. Berriel began his career in dubbing and gained early recognition for his work on the animated series El Chavo, where he voiced the characters Señor Barriga and Ñoño. In 2008, this performance earned him the Yamato Award, also known as the Oscar of Brazilian Dubbing, in the Best Newcomer category.

In the realm of anime, Berriel is primarily known for his role as Meowth in the Pokémon franchise. He assumed the voice of the iconic Team Rocket member starting with the twenty-third season, Pokémon Journeys: The Series, a role he continued in subsequent productions like Pokémon Evolutions and the film Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle. The invitation to voice Meowth came from the Double Sound studio, with director Renan Vidal, who felt Berriel's voice was a good fit for the character. Berriel has noted that his interpretation draws on the long-standing Brazilian voice of Meowth previously established by Armando Tiraboschi, blending that memory with his own understanding of the character's personality.

Beyond Pokémon and his well-known work on El Chavo, Berriel's other voice acting credits include the role of Mike Traceur in the series The New Super Máquina and as Robb Stark in the Brazilian dubbing of Game of Thrones. His body of work also encompasses live-action telenovelas and various Western animations.
