Rin Asano is a Japanese manga artist and the original creator behind the anime series Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness. Born on February 23 in Kyoto Prefecture, her real name is Noriko Asano. She began her career in the early 1990s, initially gaining experience as an assistant to manga artist Shoko Tsutsumi. Her professional debut came in 1991 with a short story titled Virgin Road, which was published in a Dragon Quest manga anthology. This early involvement with the popular Dragon Quest franchise provided her with valuable exposure and the confidence to pursue a long-term career in the industry. The following year, her story Ghost & Mother's Love received an honorable mention at the third Enix Big Rookie Awards.

Asano's first serialized series was Choko Beast!!, which ran in Monthly Shonen Gangan from 1995 to 1997 and was collected into four volumes. Throughout her career, she has created a substantial body of original manga across various genres. Other notable series from this period include Pon! and Chimera, which was serialized from 1997 to 2001 and spans seven volumes, as well as Pangaea, which ran from 1999 to 2002. She continued to publish prolifically in the 2000s with series such as Tengai Retrogical, the seven-volume Pangaea Ezel, and Kyorakuregion. Her works have also been collected in short story compilations like Beast & Beast and Heisei Vampire Counterattack, and an illustration collection titled Irofusi was released in 2004.

Asano is best known internationally for her series Deaimon, which began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine in 2016. The story follows Nagomu, a man who returns to his family's traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto after a decade away, only to find himself competing with a determined young girl named Itsuka to be the heir. The series was adapted into an anime television series titled Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness, which premiered in April 2022. The anime was produced by Encourage Films, with Reiko Yoshida handling series composition. In this adaptation, Asano is officially credited as the original creator, the source material upon which the anime is based.

While many of her earlier works, such as Choko Beast!! and Pangaea, fall into fantasy and adventure genres, Deaimon represents a shift towards gentle slice-of-life storytelling with strong themes of family, tradition, and found community. The recurring elements in her body of work often include a blend of heartfelt character relationships with light comedic moments, as seen throughout her long and varied publication history.
