Yukiya Murasaki

Description
Yukiya Murasaki, also known by the name written as 紫雪夜, is a Japanese novelist, light novel author, and manga writer. He made his literary debut in 2009 when he won an encouragement award at the first GA Bunko Awards for his work Ghosts Aren't Visible to Me.

Murasaki is best known as the original creator of the How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord series. The franchise began as a light novel titled Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo Dorei Majutsu, which was first published by Kodansha in December 2014 with illustrations by Takahiro Tsurusaki. The series was later adapted into a manga illustrated by Naoto Fukuda, which began serialization in June 2015, and a television anime that premiered in July 2018, with a second season following in 2021.

Beyond his most famous work, Murasaki has authored numerous other light novel series across various publishers. His bibliography includes Haken no Kenhime Alteena, Gin Dan no Juu Kishi, and Hōkago no Playmate, among others. In the realm of manga, he served as the story writer for 14-Sai to Illustrator, a series about a light novel illustrator with an unusual interest in navels that was adapted into a manga with art by Kamelie. He also co-created the manga Kishi Hibiki with fellow author Sō Sagara. His work extends to licensed properties as well, having written a spin-off novel for the popular game franchise The Legend of Heroes and a novel for Kantai Collection.

Murasaki's works frequently center on creators and artists, as seen in 14-Sai to Illustrator, and prominently feature the isekai, or another world, genre, with How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord being a quintessential example of a protagonist transported into a fantasy game setting. As the original creator behind series that have spawned multiple manga adaptations and anime productions, Murasaki holds a significant place in the industry as a prolific writer whose concepts have achieved broad cross-media success.
