Shiroichi Amaui

Description
Shiroichi Amaui is a Japanese novelist and manga author who began their professional career in 2015. Their debut works include the title Demon Lord's Pet and the light novel series When My House Was a Magic Power Spot. Amaui has since become a prolific creator, primarily active in the isekai and fantasy genres, with numerous series released from the mid-2010s onwards.

Among Amaui's most recognized original works is The Hero Life of a (Self-Proclaimed) "Mediocre" Demon!. This series began as a light novel in 2017 before being adapted into a manga in 2018. The story follows Chrono Alkon, a powerful demon from a remote village who wishes only for a peaceful school life in the Demon King's castle, a desire that is constantly thwarted by misunderstandings and his own hidden strength. The English language edition of the manga is published by Kodansha Comics, with the first volume released in 2021, and it is noted as Amaui's first manga and first work to be released in English.

Beyond this title, Amaui has created a substantial body of work, including series such as Saikyou Shoku "Ryuukishi" kara Shokyuu Shoku "Hakobiya" ni Natta no ni, Naze ka Yuusha-tachi kara Tayoraretemasu (2017) and Seisan Shoku wo Kiwamesugitara Densetsu no Buki ga Ore no Yome ni Narimashita (2020). Another notable series is Ore no Ie ga Maryoku Spot Datta Ken: Sun de Iru Dake de Sekai Saikyou, which began as a light novel in 2016 and was later adapted into a manga with illustrations by chippi, amassing over thirteen volumes. Amaui's writing often features protagonists with immense, world-class power who prefer a quiet, domestic life over adventure or conquest, a theme central to both The Hero Life of a (Self-Proclaimed) "Mediocre" Demon! and the "Magic Power Spot" series.

Amaui's significance in the industry lies in their successful navigation of the modern Japanese publishing ecosystem, transitioning from web or light novel origins to serialized manga adaptations. The English release of their work by a major publisher like Kodansha indicates a recognized international appeal for their storytelling, particularly within the fantasy and isekai subgenres that have gained substantial global popularity.
