Jay Preston is an American voice actor based in Los Angeles with a career encompassing anime series, video games, and animated films. Before entering the voice-over industry, he cultivated a performance background in theater and improvisational comedy. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts, and raised in Norton, he discovered an early interest in entertainment. His formative years involved performing at the Attleboro Community Theatre, where he also became involved in improv. He furthered his studies at Dean College and Bridgewater State University. His early career included performing for three years at the Medieval Manor in Boston and touring the United States with the National Theatre for Arts and Education, appearing in productions of Don Quixote and The Outsiders. He relocated to California in 2007 to pursue voice acting professionally.

Preston's voice work is extensive in the field of anime localization. A notable early anime role was providing the voice of Gray Fly in the English adaptation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. He has since appeared in several prominent series, including voicing various characters such as Archer Machine and Elsie Crimson's subordinate in Edens Zero, and taking on the role of Luis in Lupin the 3rd Part 6. His credits also include contributions to The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 and The Seven Deadly Sins. In film, he voiced the character Mitul in the 2021 animated feature Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild and was part of the cast for the movie Ni no Kuni.

In addition to his work in anime, Preston is an active voice actor in the video game industry, frequently lending his voice to major franchises. He has provided voices for several high-profile titles, often for multiple characters within a single game. His video game credits include Nidhogg in Devil May Cry 5, the 2017 rework of Maokai in League of Legends, and additional voices in the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2. He is also credited in Star Ocean: The Divine Force as Antonio Lawrence, the Trials of Mana remake as the Crimson Wizard, and in Altered Carbon: Resleeved. Other game appearances include the English versions of Final Fantasy XV, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, and the action-adventure game Ruined King: A League of Legends Story.
