Yukiwo

Description
Yukiwo is a Japanese male manga artist, illustrator, and original creator from Tokyo. His career began in the visual novel industry, where he contributed as an artist on adult games, including work for the studio Moonstone on titles such as Gemini in 2004 and the manga adaptations of the visual novels Gift under the rainbow and Clear. In 2007, he created the manga Musashino-sen no Shimai, which was later adapted into a live-action film that premiered in Japanese theaters in November 2012. His other original manga include Marika-chan Otsu from 2010, Oyoshi ni Natte! Ranmaru-san from 2012, Uchū Pharaoh Patra-chan from 2014, and JJ Doctor with T from 2015.

Yukiwo is best known as the creator of the manga series Dropkick on My Devil! (Jashin-chan Doroppukikku), which began serialization in Flex Comix’s web magazine Comic Meteor in April 2012. The series is still ongoing, with over twenty-five tankōbon volumes released as of mid-2025. The story follows Yurine Hanazono, a college student who summons Jashin, a lamia from Hell. Unable to return, Jashin attempts to kill Yurine to break the contract, resulting in a violent comedic relationship where Yurine frequently retaliates with brutal punishment, while the two interact with a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell, and the mortal realm.

The success of the manga led to multiple anime adaptations. The first anime television series, produced by the studio Nomad, aired from July to September 2018. This was followed by a second season, Dropkick on My Devil!! Dash, which aired from April to June 2020, and a third season, Dropkick on My Devil!!! X, which aired from July to September 2022. An anime special titled Dropkick on My Devil!!: Apocalypse Day was released in December 2023. In each of these productions, Yukiwo is credited as the original creator and the author of the original manga.

Across his body of work, Yukiwo’s artistic identity is closely tied to character-driven comedy, often blending supernatural or fantastical elements with everyday life. His most prominent work, Dropkick on My Devil!, is known for its slapstick humor, references to other media, and a large cast of eccentric mythological beings. His earlier work in visual novels and light novel illustration, such as for the Noucome series, also contributed to his recognition within the industry. The sustained publication of his manga over more than a decade, along with multiple anime seasons and a live-action adaptation of an earlier title, mark his significance as a creator with a consistent and commercially successful body of work.
