Yasumichi Kushida was a Japanese voice actor born on June 6, 1976, in Ibaraki Prefecture. He began his career in the entertainment industry in 2003. His path to becoming a voice actor included training at several prestigious institutions; he graduated from Tokyo Announce Gakuin Performing Arts College and also studied at the Haiyu Kyokai Acting Institute, the Katsuta Voice Actor's Academy, and the Mausu Promotion attached actor training school. In 2004, he became affiliated with the talent agency Mausu Promotion, where he remained for the duration of his career. Kushida passed away on April 1, 2023, at the age of 46.

Kushida built a prolific career with a wide range of voice roles in anime, video games, and Japanese dubs of foreign films and television series. He was particularly well-known as the regular Japanese voice of the Marvel character Hulk. He voiced the character in multiple animated series, including The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and Avengers Assemble. This association led a fellow voice actor to note that Kushida was likely the person who had shouted Hulk Smash the most times in Japan.

In anime, his notable roles included Goro Mikashima in the Planetarian series, including the original video animation Planetarian: Snow Globe and the film Planetarian: Storyteller of the Stars. He also voiced Gousuke Guden in The Aquatope on White Sand and Nobusuma in Demon Prince Enma. His extensive filmography included appearances in many long-running and popular series. He had roles in Naruto as Ryusui, Bleach as Aoga, and Gintama. Other credits include Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and its sequel 2202, Haikyuu!! as the vice principal of Karasuno High School, BTOOOM! as Isamu Kondo, BEATLESS, and Banana Fish. His final anime role was in Soaring Sky! Precure, which aired in 2023.

Beyond animation, Kushida was highly active in the field of dubbing, providing Japanese voices for numerous Hollywood films and American television series. Examples of his film dubbing work include roles in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as Xolum and Birds of Prey as Happy. He also contributed additional voices to many other films, such as Australia, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, and There Will Be Blood. His work in video games included a role in AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative. Throughout his career, Kushida was known for his bold and lively tone of voice. His passing was mourned by colleagues in the industry, who remembered him for his long-standing contributions and as a valued junior and coworker.
