Mayu Aoyagi
Description
Mayu Aoyagi is a Japanese voice actress affiliated with the agency Fukuda & Co. She was born in Tokyo on August 22, 1997. Before beginning her voice acting career, she studied at Sacred Heart University, graduating in 2020 from the Faculty of Modern Liberal Arts with a degree in Psychology. During her time at university in 2018, she received the Special Jury Prize in the National University Miss Circle Contest.
Aoyagi began her professional training in 2019 as a member of the Flash Up department at Hirata Office. She left this agency in 2020 and joined Fukuda & Co., which marked the start of her professional voice acting career. Her first anime role was a small part as a zookeeper in the Japanese dub of the children's animated series Curious George.
Aoyagi's first major, widely recognized role came in 2021 when she was cast as Maru Mori in the television anime adaptation of the popular manga Blue Period. Maru Mori is the captain of the art club at the high school attended by the main character, Yatora Yaguchi, and is a key figure in inspiring his dedication to art. In a comment following her casting, Aoyagi expressed her deep connection to the character, stating that she often thought about what Mori would do in various situations in her own daily life.
Following her debut in Blue Period, Aoyagi has continued to build her career with roles in various anime series. Her other anime credits include Tooka in Ars no Kyoju, and roles in Undead Girl Murder Farce, Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, and the 2024 remake of Ranma ½. She has also provided voices for characters in video games, such as Goetia in Your Majesty, and has extensive experience in dubbing foreign television series and films into Japanese, with credits including The Rookie, Mythic Quest, and Chicago Med. In addition to her on-screen roles, Aoyagi has also worked as a narrator, including serving as the audio guide for a Blue Period art exhibition.
