Masi Oka is a Japanese-born actor and digital effects artist recognized for his work in both live-action and voice acting. He was born in Tokyo on December 27, 1974, and moved to the United States with his family at the age of six. He graduated from Brown University with degrees in computer science and mathematics. Before his acting career gained prominence, Oka worked as a visual effects specialist at Industrial Light & Magic, contributing to major films including the Star Wars prequel trilogy. His acting career includes notable live-action roles such as Hiro Nakamura in the television series Heroes, a performance that earned him nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award.

As a voice actor, Oka has contributed to several animated and live-action hybrid projects. In the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions, he voiced the character Ethan in the English-language version of the short film The Ninth Jedi. Another significant voice role is Ringo in the adult animated series Blue Eye Samurai. He also provided the voice for the character Katsu Kimura in the animated film Spies in Disguise. In addition to these roles, Oka lent his voice to a bureaucrat character in the English version of the CGI film Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive.
