Maki Hanatani is a Japanese singer and voice actress born on March 16, 2002, in Hyogo Prefecture. She began her entertainment career at the age of three, appearing in commercials. She is currently affiliated with the agency Style Cube.
Before focusing on voice acting, Hanatani was a member of the idol group Fullfull Pocket, which she joined during her sixth year of elementary school. In 2016, she made her solo singing debut with the single Datte, Gyutte Shite, which was used as the opening theme song for the anime series Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear. She graduated from Fullfull Pocket in March 2017 to concentrate on her voice acting career.
Her profile as a voice actress grew significantly when she was cast as Kozue Yusa in the popular The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls franchise, a role she began in 2019. She has since performed on several Idolmaster music releases that have charted on the Oricon Singles Chart, including The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Little Stars Extra! Sing the Prologue in 2020, which peaked at number nine, and The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Starlight Master Gold Rush! 2: Taiyou no Enogubako, which peaked at number ten the same year. In addition to her work in games and music, she reprises the role of Kozue Yusa in the original net animation The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Theater: Extra Stage.
Another of her notable major roles is Sakura Saruno in the Idol Bu Show franchise, which includes a 2022 animated film. Her other voice acting credits include roles in the video games Vivid Army, London Meikyūtan, and Kemono Friends 3, as well as a guest role in the television anime Idolish7. In July 2021, Hanatani left her longtime agency Space Craft to work as a freelancer, and she joined Style Cube in August 2022.
