Satoshi Mizukami is a Japanese manga artist born in Osaka, Japan on February 20, 1980. He decided to pursue a career as a manga creator from a young age, beginning to draw comics while in middle school. His early creative influences included the anime Mashin Hero Wataru, the manga Ghost Sweeper Mikami, and the light novel series Slayers. In his later years, he cited the works of the studio Gainax, particularly FLCL, as a significant inspiration. Mizukami is a graduate of the Osaka Technical School of Integrative Design's Department of Manga. In 2004, during the serialization of his early work Angel Onayami Sōdanjo, he moved to the Kanto region and established a workplace in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, where he currently resides. He often depicts himself in his notes and commentary as a frog or wearing a frog mask. His former assistants include manga artists Kenta Ishizaka, Akira Sagami, and Seto Ichiri.

Mizukami began his professional career in the early 2000s. His first serialized work was Sanjin Sadō, which ran in Young King OURs magazine from 2002 to 2004. He is best known as the original creator of several acclaimed manga series that have been adapted into anime. His most prominent works include Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer (also known as Hoshi no Samidare), Sengoku Youko, Spirit Circle, and the multimedia project Planet With. Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer was serialized in Young King OURs from April 2005 to August 2010, with its chapters collected in ten volumes. Sengoku Youko was published in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine from December 2007 to July 2014 and later on the Comic Blade web service until May 2016, spanning seventeen volumes. Spirit Circle ran from May 2012 to March 2016 and is collected in six volumes. He continues to create new work, with the manga World End Solte beginning serialization in January 2020 and Climax Necromance, a collaboration with former assistant Ichiri Seto, launching in January 2024.

The adaptation history of Mizukami's work into anime is a significant part of his profile. Unlike many manga creators, he has often taken an unusually active role in the production of the anime adaptations of his stories. The first of his works to be adapted was Planet With, an original anime television series that aired from July to September 2018. For this project, he served as the original creator, original character designer, and scriptwriter, and he even contributed storyboards. The anime adaptation of Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer aired from July to December 2022, and Mizukami was credited with providing the script. Most recently, an anime adaptation of Sengoku Youko produced by White Fox aired from January to December 2024, with Mizukami credited as the original creator.
