Osamu Sonoe is a Japanese voice actor and stage actor affiliated with the talent agency Mausu Promotion. He was born in Tokyo on March 15, 1941. His career in the performing arts began after he graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1962. He then joined the renowned theatre company Shiki, where he remained a company member for a decade until 1972. In 1992, he became affiliated with Mausu Promotion, formerly known as Ezaki Productions, to focus on voice acting.

Sonoe's voice acting career spans a wide range of anime, video games, and dubbing for foreign films and television series. In anime, he is recognized for roles such as Kisaburou Noda in Nodame Cantabile, Otousan in Gintama, and Wang Shaotang in Darker Than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha. He voiced King Fritz in the first season of the highly successful Attack on Titan. He has also had guest roles in long-running series, appearing as Satsuma Kazuo in an episode of Detective Conan. His involvement with the Legend of the Galactic Heroes franchise includes the role of Edwin Fischer in the series Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These.

Beyond anime, a significant portion of his career is dedicated to voice-over work, providing the Japanese dubbing voices for actors in numerous Western films and TV series. His dubbing credits include the films Armageddon and Contact, as well as long-running television series such as Columbo, ER, Prison Break, and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

In addition to his performance work, Sonoe is also active as a music educator. He possesses skills in piano, guitar, and ukulele. He has worked as an instructor for Latin music, chanson, and popular song at specialized institutions and runs his own workshop in Tokyo. For his teaching activities, he uses the pseudonym Kan Natsumi.
