Masafumi Sugiura, also known by the alias Pierre Sugiura, is a Japanese scriptwriter, manga writer, and broadcast writer born on September 6, 1977 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He is the representative of the creative management and video production company PTA Inc.. Sugiura is a graduate of Nihon University.
Sugiura is most widely recognized for his extensive work as a screenwriter on numerous television anime series. He served as the series composition writer and wrote scripts for the first two seasons of Uma Musume Pretty Derby, which aired in 2018 and 2021 respectively, as well as for its related original video animation, BNW no Chikai. He is also credited for the screenplay of the upcoming television anime adaptation of Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray, scheduled to premiere in 2025. Beyond the anime, his role as a manga scriptwriter is central to the Cinderella Gray project itself; he is credited as the scriptwriter for the original manga series, which began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in June 2020.
