SCA-ji

Description
SCA-ji, also written as SCA-JI, SCA-DI, or SCA-自, is a Japanese creator known primarily for his work as a scenario writer, original illustrator, and character designer within the visual novel industry. He was born on December 20 in Kodaira, Tokyo. He is the main scenario writer for the eroge company KeroQ and its sister brand Makura, and was also the original illustrator and character designer for many of their early projects.

Beyond his foundational role in the adult game sector, SCA-ji is recognized as the original creator behind the manga and anime series Ebiten: Ebisugawa Public High School's Tenmonbu. The manga, which blends comedy, parody, and harem elements, was serialized by Kadokawa Shoten in the magazine Comp Ace beginning in 2008. For this project, SCA-ji is credited as the creator and story writer, while the illustration was handled by the artist Kira Inugami. The series was subsequently adapted into a ten-episode original net animation by the studio AIC Classic, which premiered on the Niconico streaming service on July 14, 2012. An original video animation episode was later released alongside the fourth manga volume in 2013. The story follows Itsuki Noya, a high school boy who mistakenly joins the "Tenmonbu," which he believes to be the astronomy club, only to find it is a bizarre group of fujoshi girls.

The creator's professional history began with a background in art and a desire to become a manga artist. After failing to secure a debut through conventional publishing channels, he and his colleagues from a doujin circle established the company KeroQ to produce their own works. His early work on the visual novel Tsui no Sora established many of the thematic and stylistic elements that would come to define his later, more famous projects. He is widely noted in the visual novel community for works such as Subarashiki Hibi: Furenzoku Sonzai and Sakura no Uta. His writing is characterized by dense, philosophical digressions, frequent references to literature and analytical philosophy, and a focus on existential themes that often coalesce into a central message about how to live a happy life. While his early career saw him act as a primary illustrator, his later works have seen him focus more on scenario writing and overall production direction, serving as the art director for the visual novel ATRI: My Dear Moments. As the founder and a key figure behind both KeroQ and Makura, SCA-ji holds significant influence as an auteur in the niche eroge market, where his works are known for their ambition, length, and polarizing intellectual depth.
