Born in 1981 in Los Angeles, California, she began performing at a young age, starting with stage work before transitioning to voice acting. Her career in animation voiceover began with roles on the Nickelodeon series Rugrats.

Brooks has built a prolific career with well over eighty film and television productions and more than forty video game credits to her name. Her voice work is heard across a wide range of popular animated series. She is known for playing Princess Allura in Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender, Jasper in Cartoon Network's Steven Universe, and Stormy in the Winx Club series. She has also voiced Bumblebee in DC Super Hero Girls and Skara in The Owl House. In live-action, she has contributed voice work to series such as South Park and The Big Bang Theory.
