Yukako Kabei is a Japanese novelist and manga writer, primarily known as the original creator of the light novel series Kieli and 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team. Her work has been adapted into multiple media formats, including manga series and an anime television series.
Kabei was born in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, and later resided in Tokyo. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Gakushuin University with a degree in Business Management. Her career as a professional writer began when she won the 9th Dengeki Novel Prize Grand Prize in 2001. Her winning entry was subsequently published as the first volume of her debut series, Kieli, originally titled Kieli: The Dead Sleep in the Wilderness.
Her most prominent works include the Kieli series and the 2.43 series. The Kieli novels were published in Japan starting in 2003, with a total of nine volumes released by 2006.
