Description
POP is a Japanese illustrator whose career began with the commercially published series Moetan, a collection of educational books that integrated moe-style artwork with English language instruction. This work established POP as a notable figure in the wave of practical books that adopted the moe aesthetic.
As an original creator, POP is credited as the original author and character design original concept for the anime Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan: Eigo de Tatakau Mahō Shōjo. This anime was produced as a short-form series, with a first season of twelve episodes airing on AT-X from July to November 2012, followed by a second season titled Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan the TV, which consisted of ten episodes broadcast on TV Tokyo from July to September 2013. The anime was animated by AIC Frontier, with the character designs adapted for animation by Noriyuki Kitajima. For this work, the character of Nard, a mascot for the blog Akiba Blog, was originally designed by POP.
Beyond this title, POP has contributed as an original character designer for various media. In video games, POP provided character illustrations for projects such as Lavni no Ehon and served as the original character designer for the action role-playing game Alice Saga.
