He is best known as the artist and creator of the long running manga series Naniwa Kin'yū Den Minami no Teiō, which began serialization in 1992. This work, whose title translates to "The Minami Bank" or "King of Minami," centers on the financial underworld and money lending in the Osaka area. Gou has continued to expand this narrative through related manga titles, including Minami no Teiō - Young-hen from 2006 and Minami no Teiō - Young-hen - Riken Kūkō from 2009. Beyond the Minami no Teiō franchise, his other known manga work includes Snake Man from 2003. The Minami no Teiō series has been adapted into multiple media formats, with Gou credited as the original author for the 2019 television anime series Minami no Teiō: Zero. His creative identity is closely tied to the economic and social realities of post bubble era Japan, focusing on themes of debt, power, and survival within the financial world. The longevity of the Minami no Teiō franchise, spanning several decades and multiple sequel series, underscores his significance as a durable figure in commercial manga, particularly within the genre of economic and crime based storytelling.
