He is affiliated with the talent agency Watanabe Entertainment and is known for his work as a comedian, television personality, and voice actor. His career is closely intertwined with the Pokémon franchise, where he has become a familiar face and voice.
His primary role within the Pokémon media landscape is as a television host. He has been a regular presenter on various Pokémon-related variety shows, including Pokénchi and Pokémon Get TV. On Pokémon Get TV, he was known for hosting a segment titled the Pokémon Zukan Completion Journey, where he traveled across Japan attempting to complete the in-game Pokédex for Pokémon Y solely through trading with people he met. His involvement with the franchise extends to the card game as well, with a promotional Pokémon Trading Card Game card featuring his likeness.
Abareru-kun's voice acting career is a direct extension of his on-screen persona and passion for Pokémon. He made his debut as a voice actor in the Pokémon anime by playing a character modeled after himself. In the Sun & Moon series, he voiced Hiroki, a student at the Pokémon School on Melemele Island. This character, who shares his real first name and appearance, appeared in episodes such as A Guardian Rematch!.
His most significant voice acting achievement to date came with the 2016 animated film, Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel. For Abareru-kun, taking on a role in a Pokémon film was the realization of a long-held dream. The path to this role was unique and well-documented on his television program. He underwent approximately two months of voice acting training, receiving instruction on the basics and techniques from Rica Matsumoto, the longtime voice actress for the series' protagonist, Satoshi. After this preparation, he made a direct appeal to the film's director, Kunihiko Yuyama, who was moved by his dedication and approved his participation. In the film, he voiced the character Onigohri, a Glalie that is part of the Mega Evolution Army and is forced to Mega Evolve by the antagonist, Jarvis. His work on the film was covered in a special behind-the-scenes feature that detailed his dubbing session.
Following his film debut, he has continued to appear in Pokémon-related programming, such as taking on the role of "driver" in the program PoKeDoKo in 2023. His career is defined by a close, multi-faceted relationship with the Pokémon franchise, transitioning from a hosting and comedy role to achieving his ambition of becoming a voice actor within its animated world.
