Momoka Sumitani
Description
Momoka Sumitani is a Japanese entertainer known for her work as a singer, dancer, and actress, with a notable role in anime voice acting. She was born on November 20, 2004, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Her career began with training at the EXPG dance academy, and she worked as a backup dancer for artists like EXILE and J Soul Brothers before her debut. In 2018, she began her acting career with a role in the television series Magical × Heroine Magimajo Pures!, where she was also part of the associated idol unit Magical².
Sumitani's primary foray into anime voice acting came with the series GaruGaku: Saint Girls Square Academy. The anime, which aired from April 2020 to March 2021, was produced by OLM and Wit Studio and featured the members of the idol group Girls² as voice actors. In this series, she voiced a character named Momoka, who is a student in the unit West2. The character was based on Sumitani herself, and she, along with her groupmates from Girls², played fictionalized versions of themselves striving to perform on the school's main stage. The success of the anime led to a live-action drama adaptation titled GaruGaku: Girls Garden, which aired in 2021, where Sumitani and the other Girls² members reprised their respective roles. A second anime season, GaruGaku II: Lucky Stars, aired in 2022. This project represents the most significant and well-documented instance of her voice acting work.
