Akane Kumada
Description
Akane Kumada is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Tokyo, born on February 3, 2000. She is affiliated with the agency Apollo Bay and began her career in the entertainment industry after winning the Grand Prix at the ANISONG STARS audition in 2017. Her debut in voice acting came in 2018 with a role in the anime series Planet With. Later that same year, she landed her first named role as Eren in the popular series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, a character she would continue to voice in subsequent seasons and the spin-off The Slime Diaries. In 2019, she voiced Izumi Shibusawa in the sports anime Rifle is Beautiful, where she also performed the series' opening and ending themes with her co-stars as part of the unit Rifling 4. The following year, she took on the role of Ichiko Oda in Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga. In 2021, she voiced the character Mina in Drug Store in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist. A significant role came in 2022 when she starred as Hibiki Morishima, one of the main characters in the original musical anime Healer Girl.
In addition to her voice acting, Kumada has a concurrent career as a singer. She made her major debut as a solo artist under the Lantis label in 2020 with the single Sunny Sunny Girl◎, the title track of which served as the opening theme for Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga. Her music career is closely intertwined with her anime roles. Her second single, Brand New Diary/ Mahō no Kaze, was released in 2021; the song Brand New Diary was used as the opening theme for The Slime Diaries, and Mahō no Kaze was the opening theme for the anime Super Cub. She also released Cocoro Hayaru, the opening theme for Drug Store in Another World. Her debut album, Sekai ga Haretara, was released in 2022. Kumada is also a member of musical units formed with fellow cast members. In 2021, she formed the group Healer Girls with Karin Isobe, Marina Horiuchi, and Chihaya Yoshitake, which was central to the Healer Girl anime project. Her work as a singer and her roles in anime often involve performance, and she held her first solo live concert, Sekai ga Haretara, in Tokyo in June 2022.
