Francesca Calo
Description
Francesca Calo is a bicoastal actor, voice actress, and ADR director based in New York City. Born and raised in New York, she is of Chinese and Spanish heritage and spent her childhood on film and television sets with her parents, who work in the industry. She began her formal performing arts training at the age of seven at the Academy of Dramatic Arts and later studied at the Moscow Art Theater School and with New York Stage and Film. Calo is also a graduate of Vassar College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature and Japanese.
Calo is recognized for her work in anime dubbing, frequently collaborating with the New York-based studio NYAV Post. One of her most prominent roles is Qiang Lei in the third season of the anime series Kingdom, for which she also served as an ADR director. She provided the English voice of Stella Loussier in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny for the NYAV Post dub, a performance that earned her a SOVAS Voice Arts Award nomination. Her other anime credits include roles in Kageki Shoujo!! as Emiri Sunouchi, Taisho Otome Fairy Tale, and the film Lonely Castle in the Mirror, where she also contributed as an ADR director.
Beyond acting, Calo has an extensive career in ADR direction and production for numerous English adaptations. Her directing work includes roles as ADR Director for the film Lonely Castle in the Mirror, the third season of Kingdom, and the ONA Vampire in the Garden. She has also served as Assistant ADR Director for AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline and Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island.
Her voice work extends beyond anime into video games and western animation. She is known for voicing Female Cephalon Suda in the popular video game Warframe and has provided voices for other games such as Wasteland 3 and Seven Knights 2. In animation, her credits include various characters in the Disney XD series Pokémon, Cartoon Network's Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese, and Regal Academy. Calo has also appeared in live-action productions, including a role as a Plaza Hotel maid opposite Sandra Bullock in Ocean's Eight and as a reporter in the HBO series Mare of Easttown.
Calo holds a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a discipline she has practiced since kindergarten, and is conversational in both Spanish and Japanese. She is also an avid baker.
