Bungo Yamashita

Description
Bungo Yamashita is a Japanese manga artist and writer, born in Chiba Prefecture. He is best known as the original creator behind the manga and anime series Seton Academy: Join the Pack, also known as Murenase! Seton Gakuen. This series, which began serialization in May 2016 on the Cycomi manga app and website, became his most widely recognized work. The manga concluded in April 2021 and was collected into multiple tankōbon volumes, with distribution handled first by Kodansha and later by Shogakukan.

Before Seton Academy, Yamashita created the manga Kyupiko! - Fujimatsu Tenshi no Mismanagement, which ran from 2012 to 2014 and was published in five volumes. Following the conclusion of Seton Academy, he began work on Edo Dead, a series that started in 2022.

Yamashita's role as the original creator of Seton Academy led to its adaptation into a 12-episode anime television series produced by Studio Gokumi, which aired from January to March 2020. A special OVA episode was later released in July 2020 as part of the Blu-ray volume. The anime adaptation brought his characters and story to a wider audience, with the series being licensed internationally for streaming.

His work on Seton Academy is characterized by its school setting and a premise involving anthropomorphic animal characters and human interaction, blending comedy with romantic elements. The series' focus on animal behavior, pack dynamics, and the contrast between species established a distinctive identity for his work within the comedy and romance genres. Yamashita's career as a creator spans over a decade, with his work on Seton Academy representing his most significant contribution to the industry, particularly as the source material for a full anime production.
