Takahiro Kamiya

Description
Takahiro Kamiya is a Japanese manga artist known for his work in the gag comedy genre. He was born on March 21, 1971, in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Kamiya made his professional debut at the age of nineteen with the manga Ore Tadaima Seishun Naka, which was published in Kodansha's Young Magazine.

Kamiya is best known as the illustrator for the manga Oh! My Konbu. This gourmet-themed comedy series, with a story written by Yasushi Akimoto, follows a boy named Konbu who helps out at his father's restaurant. The manga was serialized in Kodansha's Comic BonBon and Deluxe Bonbon magazines from 1990 to 1994 and was compiled into twelve tankobon volumes. The series proved popular enough to be adapted into a twenty-two episode anime television series in 1991.

Following a gap of nearly thirty years, Kamiya and Akimoto revived the series with a sequel titled Oh! My Konbu Middle, which began serialization in Kodansha's Morning magazine in January 2021. This new chapter depicts Konbu as a middle-aged man.

Beyond Oh! My Konbu, Kamiya is also the creator of Hero Hero-kun, another gag manga that was adapted into a lengthy anime television series of one hundred and four episodes, which aired from 2000 to 2001. A notable figure who once worked as an assistant to Kamiya is fellow manga artist Koushi Matsushita.
