Tomoaki Maeno is a Japanese voice actor born on May 26, 1982, in Ibaraki Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency Arts Vision. Inspired by the anime Dragon Ball, Maeno pursued a career in voice acting, graduating from the Amusement Media Academy in 2003 before training at the Japan Narration Acting Institute.
His early career focused on dubbing foreign films and television series. He transitioned to anime work after successfully auditioning for the role of Atsushi Dōjō in Library War, a performance that garnered significant recognition. In 2010, he received the New Actor Award at the 4th Seiyu Awards. Maeno has built a prolific career with a wide range of major roles. He is known for portraying mature and stoic characters, a reflection of his natural deep voice, but has also demonstrated versatility in other roles. Some of his most notable anime roles include Son Hak in Akatsuki no Yona, White Blood Cell (Neutrophil) in Cells at Work!, Veldora Tempest in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Decim in Death Parade, and Kō Yukina in Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi. He also voices the character Kijita in the 2017 anime film Napping Princess.
Throughout his career, Maeno has taken on recurring roles in long-running franchises, such as Juichi Fukutomi in Yowamushi Pedal and Camus in the Uta no Prince-sama series. He has frequently collaborated with director Kenji Kamiyama, appearing in projects like Napping Princess and The Morose Mononokean.
