Uratanuki

Description
Uratanuki is the stage name of a Japanese voice actor and singer, born Wataru Takahashi on August 9, 1989, in Saitama Prefecture. He is also known professionally as Wataru Urata. His career began in 2009 on the video sharing platform Niconico, where he gained popularity as an utaite, a singer who covers songs. His stage name, Uratanuki, is derived from his given name, Wataru, which when reversed becomes "Urata," combined with the Japanese word for raccoon dog, "tanuki". He is a member and the leader of the four-man vocal unit Urashimasakatasen, which he formed in 2013 with fellow utaite performers Tonari no Sakata, Shima, and Senra.

He made his formal debut as a voice actor on May 2, 2016, initially working under his birth name, Takahashi Wataru, and affiliated with the agency Kenyu Office. He later changed his stage name to Wataru Urata and moved to the agency Swallow.

One of his most personal voice acting roles is playing a fictionalized version of himself, Uratanuki, in the 2019 short-form anime series Days of Urashimasakatasen. The series depicts the daily lives of the Urashimasakatasen members as high school students. Beyond this, he has built a career with a variety of supporting and main roles in television animation. These include Takaya Saegusa in Kiratto Pri Chan, Yukiya Katashiro in Try Knights, Sousuke Kagura in ACTORS: Songs Connection, and Tomomichi Takebe in All Out!!. He has also lent his voice to characters in popular series such as Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as Taori Kuroyagi, and Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun as a male student.

His work frequently involves collaborations with his Urashimasakatasen bandmates, with whom he also records theme songs for various anime, including the opening theme for Days of Urashimasakatasen itself. He is also known to collaborate regularly with other utaite singers, such as Mafumafu and Soraru, often posting videos of them playing video games together.

In addition to his anime roles, Uratanuki has a significant body of work in other areas of voice performance, including video games, drama CDs, and audio dramas. Notable game credits include Nigel Mauriac in Sdorica -sunset- and Mori in Afterl!fe. He has also been involved in dubbing foreign television series and films into Japanese, with credits including The Missing and the Danish film Land of Mine. His career is also marked by a parallel success in music, having released several solo albums and numerous singles, in addition to his work with Urashimasakatasen, which has achieved commercial success including an Oricon weekly number-one album.
