Senra
Description
Senra is a Japanese voice actor and singer, originally known for their career as an utaite, a person who covers songs and posts them online. Their career began in March 2008 on the video sharing website Niconico, initially using the name Mimisen before settling on Senra in June of the same year. Senra first gained attention for their skill in voice imitation, particularly for mimicking the voice of actor Hiroshi Kamiya, specifically his portrayal of the character Izaya Orihara from the anime Durarara!!. A cover song done in this voice, titled "Izaya Circulation," became widely popular.
As their career progressed, Senra became known for their own natural singing voice, which is described as having a subtle nasal but unique tone. They have released multiple solo albums, including non defective, Lüge, À la mode, VERITE, and GOSSIP, and have embarked on several solo live tours across Japan.
A significant part of Senra's career involves close collaborations with other utaite. They are a member of the vocal unit UraShimaSakataSen (USSS) alongside Uratanuki, Shima, and Tonari no Sakata. This group has released numerous albums and their music has been featured as theme songs for several anime series. These include the second opening for Starmyu, the second ending for Inazuma Eleven: Orion no Koukin, the second opening for the 2019 Duel Masters!! anime, and the opening theme for the original anime Akudama Drive.
This longstanding collaboration led directly to Senra's most prominent voice acting role. In the 2019 short anime series Days of Urashimasakatasen, which is based on the vocal unit itself, Senra voiced a fictionalized version of themselves, one of the four main high school students. This series, animated by Gainax Kyoto, featured all four members of USSS providing the voices for their respective anime counterparts. In addition to this work with USSS, Senra has also contributed voice acting for promotional trailers related to the group's albums.
