Jorge R. Gutiérrez is a Mexican animator, director, writer, and voice actor known for his work in animation, often drawing on Mexican pop and folk culture. Born in Mexico City and raised in Tijuana, he is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) with a BFA and MFA in Experimental Animation. He frequently collaborates with his wife and muse, Sandra Equihua.

As a voice actor, Gutiérrez has lent his voice to a variety of characters, primarily in projects he has also created or directed. In the 2017 feature film Mutafukaz, he provides the voice for the character El Tigre. He voiced the character Gordo Gordo in El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, the Nickelodeon series he co-created with Equihua. He also voiced King Teca in his own Netflix animated series Maya and the Three. Other voice roles include Ghostbear in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sal in Victor and Valentino, a lucha libre commentator in The Loud House and its spin-off The Casagrandes, and a street vendor in The Casagrandes Movie. He has also voiced characters in projects such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Bad Guys 2, and Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires.

Gutiérrez has recurring collaborations with a stable of voice actors that includes Carlos Alazraqui, Eric Bauza, Grey DeLisle, and Danny Trejo, who often appear in his projects. His work as a creator and director has garnered significant recognition, including multiple Emmy and Annie Awards for his television series El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera and Maya and the Three. He also co-wrote and directed the Golden Globe-nominated animated feature film The Book of Life.
