Takuya Fujima

Description
Takuya Fujima is a Japanese manga artist, illustrator, and character designer known for his work across various media, including original anime productions, manga adaptations, and character concept art. He began his career drawing adult manga in the late 1990s, with works such as "Yakusoku: Itoshii Hito e" and "Seikimatsu Kyousoukyoku". His transition to mainstream少年漫画 came with the one-shot "Hybrid Angel" in Kodansha's Monthly Magazine Z.

Fujima's artistic style shifted from a realistic approach to a distinct moe aesthetic, characterized by cute and slender female characters, a change that became evident with works like "Free Collars Kingdom". He has cited a fondness for motifs such as cat ears, fangs, and miniskirts in his character designs. Over time, he has contributed to numerous projects as both an original creator and an adapter of existing properties, often noting his flexibility in adjusting his art style to suit a given work's tone.

His notable manga credits include illustrating "Negima!? neo" (based on the original by Ken Akamatsu) and "The Idolmaster Break!". A significant portion of his bibliography consists of collaborations with writer Masaki Tsuzuki, for whom he illustrated the long-running series "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid" and its sequel-related comics. He also provided the art for the manga adaptation of the light novel series "R-15".

As a character designer and original creator, Fujima has been involved in multiple anime productions. He is credited with the original character designs for the television series "Weiss Survive," "ViVid Strike!," "Bermuda Triangle: Colorful Pastorale," "Sen'yoku no Sigrdrifa," and "Extreme Hearts". For the anime "Z/X Code reunion," he is credited as the original character designer and as a creator of the work itself, with the story credited to Tatsuhiko Urahata. This series, which aired in 2019, is based on a manga of the same name illustrated by Fujima that was serialized in Shueisha's V Jump magazine. Beyond character design, his illustration work for anime includes providing end cards and preview illustrations for series such as "Hidamari Sketch x 365," "Puella Magi Madoka Magica," and "Yuyushiki".

Fujima has also cultivated a significant body of work as an illustrator for light novels and games. He provided the illustrations for the light novel series "R-15," "World Crisis," and "Okitegami Kyouko no Bibouroku". In the gaming sector, he has contributed illustrations for trading card games like "Weiß Schwarz" and "Aquarian Age," and designed characters for mobile games. His popularity has led to the publication of several art collections, including the "ViVid" series of art books. Fujima remains active in the industry, with recent work including character design for the original anime "Highspeed Etoile" which began airing in 2024.
