André Filho

Description
André Filho was a Brazilian voice actor known for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly for anime series and films during the 1980s and 1990s. He was born on December 21, 1946, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and had a prolific career until his death in 1997. His voice became well-known to Brazilian audiences through his portrayals of iconic characters in both animation and live-action dubbing, where he was the regular Portuguese voice for actors such as Sylvester Stallone, Roger Moore, and Christopher Reeve. In the realm of anime, Filho contributed to several titles that were broadcast in Brazil. He voiced the protagonist Marin Reigan in the 1981 anime film Space Warrior Baldios, a role that featured him as the hero from the planet S-1 who aids Earth against an invasion. His work in the industry also included roles in other classic series, such as providing voices for the 1967 version of Speed Racer. A significant and recurring aspect of Filho's career was his long-standing collaboration with the Herbert Richers studio, one of Brazil's most renowned dubbing facilities. He frequently worked alongside a stable of other prominent voice actors from that era, including Dário Lourenço, Jomery Pozzoli, and Francisco José, who were also part of the Baldios cast. One of his most notable and enduring achievements was his role as the voice of Sebastian the crab in the Brazilian Portuguese dubs of Disney's The Little Mermaid. Filho provided both the speaking and singing voice for the character, performing the iconic song Under the Sea (titled Aqui No Mar in Portuguese). His performance was so memorable that when Disney partially redubbed the film in 1998 to update the musical arrangements, Filho was brought back to reprise his role and re-record the song with a new choir, ensuring his voice remained attached to the character even after his death the previous year.
