Aoi Morikawa

Description
Aoi Morikawa is a Japanese actress and model who has also performed voice acting roles in anime films. She was born on June 17, 1995, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Her career began in 2010 when she was a winner of the Miss Seventeen audition, leading to work as a model for the magazine Seventeen. She transitioned into acting in 2012 and has since built a extensive career primarily in live-action television dramas and films.

In the realm of anime, Morikawa is known for her leading role in the 2020 animated film Looking for Magical DoReMi. This film was produced by Toei Animation to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Ojamajo Doremi franchise. In it, she voiced the character Sora Nagase, a 22-year-old college student from Aichi Prefecture who grew up watching the original anime and is aspiring to become a teacher. The film's story follows Sora and two other women who are brought together by their shared childhood connection to the magical girl series. The film was screened at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival before its general release in November 2020 and went on to win the Best Animation Film Award at the 75th Mainichi Film Awards.

Morikawa is also set to voice a character in a major anime film franchise. She will play Sarifa, a mysterious girl, in the 2025 theatrical anime film Lupin the IIIRD: The Immortal Bloodline. This film is a new 2D animated entry in the long-running Lupin the Third series. In comments about the role, Morikawa has expressed her excitement and the pressure she felt participating in such a classic series, noting that she aimed to create a character who subtly influences the protagonist, Lupin.

Her anime voice roles appear to be selective, complementing her primary work as a live-action actress, and have included parts in both a critically acclaimed anniversary film and a long-standing popular franchise.
