Ayumi Takeo was a Japanese voice actress from Mie Prefecture, born on September 2, best known for her role as Yun Iijima in the New Game! anime series. Her career in the industry spanned a decade, from her debut in 2011 until her retirement in 2021.
Takeo was a graduate of the 19th term at the Sigma Seven Training Center, where her classmates included voice actors Shoya Chiba and Chitose Morinaga. Following her training, she joined the agency Sigma Seven e. Her first voice roles were minor, appearing in 2011 productions such as Dragon Crisis! and as a cafe customer in Mayo Chiki!. After a period of training, she resumed regular work in 2015 with a small part in the second season of Blood Type.
Takeo's most significant and defining role came in 2016 when she was cast as Yun Iijima, a character designer, in the television anime adaptation of the four-panel manga New Game!. This role brought her into the spotlight and marked her first experience recording character songs. Alongside her New Game! co-stars Yuki Takada, Megumi Yamaguchi, and Megumi Toda, she formed the voice actor unit fourfolium. The group performed the opening and ending theme songs for the anime, including SAKURA Skip and Now Loading!!!!.
Following the success of New Game!, Takeo continued to take on a variety of roles, though often in minor or supporting capacities. Her other credited anime appearances include the role of Mayu Kanenashi in Scorching Ping Pong Girls, Eri Sajo in Aikatsu Stars!, and various background characters in series such as Chaos;Child, 91Days, and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Gaiden. She also lent her voice to video game projects, reprising her role as Yun Iijima in New Game! -The Challenge Stage!- and appearing in titles like Girls & Panzer: The Great Tank Operation and Libra of Precatus.
At the end of September 2021, Takeo announced on her Instagram account that she had left her agency, Sigma Seven e, and was retiring from the voice acting industry entirely. Following her departure, some of her ongoing roles, such as the character Isuzu Okuhida in the Onsen Musume project, were taken over by other voice actors. After retiring, she transitioned to a new career as a voice acting instructor in Nagoya.
