Description
Goro Inagaki, born December 8, 1973, in Tokyo, is a Japanese actor and singer who has also contributed his voice to animated projects. While his career is primarily focused on live-action performance, he has taken on select voice acting roles in notable anime films.
Inagaki provided the voice for Masaaki Azumi in the 2019 animated film Children of the Sea. Masaaki is the father of the protagonist, Ruka, and works at an aquarium, a setting central to the film's story. This role added his voice to a fantasy drama about the mysteries of the ocean.
A significant earlier voice role was as the antagonist Dr. Ratchet in the 2006 One Piece film, One Piece: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle. Dr. Ratchet is the primary villain of the movie, a genius and arrogant inventor who rules over Mecha Island and plots to use his creations for world domination. At the time, Inagaki commented on his experience, noting that he had liked anime since childhood and admired the work of voice actors, expressing enjoyment in taking on this new challenge. He described his character as a strange but lovable antagonist and aimed to perform in a way that would be memorable for fans of the popular series. Fellow SMAP member Takuya Kimura also offered encouragement for his role. These two roles represent his primary contributions to the field of anime voice acting.
