Kurone Kanzaki is a Japanese writer best known as the original creator of the fantasy light novel, manga, and anime series Demon Lord, Retry! (Maō-sama, Retry!). Kanzaki began serializing the story as a web novel in 2016 on the user-generated content platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, as well as on the website Hameln. The series was later acquired for traditional publication by Futabasha, which began releasing it as a light novel in June 2017 under its Monster Bunko imprint. The light novel features illustrations by Kōji Ogata in its first edition and by Amaru Minotake in its second edition. The success of the light novel led to a manga adaptation with art by Amaru Minotake, which started serialization in Futabasha's digital Web Comic Action in October 2017. An anime television series adaptation produced by studio Ekachi Epilka aired from July to September 2019. A second anime series, Demon Lord, Retry! R, produced by studio Gekkō, premiered in October 2024. Kanzaki is credited as the original creator and story author across all these media. The works are centered on the isekai and fantasy genres, following Akira Ono, the creator of a MMORPG, who finds himself transported into the world of his game in the body of his character, the Demon Lord Hakuto Kunai.
