Description
Nana Kouno is a Japanese stage actress and voice actress born on May 14, 1989, in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. She is affiliated with the Ongakuza Musical/R Company for her stage work and with the talent agency Ken Production for her voice acting career.
Her path to the performing arts began with her education at the Hiroshima Music High School, where she studied in the Department of Performing Arts with a major in musicals. After graduating, she was rejected twice by the Takarazuka Music School. In June 2008, she successfully passed an audition and joined the Ongakuza Musical/R Company. She was immediately cast in the lead role for her debut play, Mademoiselle Mozart. Her stage work has been critically recognized; in 2020, she won the Newcomer Award in the Theater Division of the 75th Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival for her lead performance as Joan in the play SUNDAY.
Alongside her stage career, Kouno has built a body of work as a voice actor. In anime, she is known for providing the Japanese voice of Akari Kaga in the anime adaptation of the manga series A Town Where You Live, also known as Kimi no Iru Machi. Her voice acting credits also extend to dubbing foreign productions, where she has taken on leading roles. These include voicing Fig in the children's series Tumble Leaf, Bingo in the Disney Channel series Puppy Dog Pals, Dorothy in Lost in Oz, and the lead character Horse in the animated series Centaurworld. She also voiced a character in the live-action/CGI series Kiss Me First. Her work in video games includes a role in Yo-Kai Watch 2.
