Ryan Cooley
Description
Ryan Cooley is a Canadian actor who began his career as a child performer in live-action television before transitioning to voice work in animation. His most notable credit as a voice actor is in the anime series BeyWarriors: BeyRaiderz, where he played the main role of Task Landau. The 2014 series, a Canadian-Japanese co-production based on the Beyblade franchise, marked his debut in anime voice acting. In addition to this lead role, Cooley also provided voices for additional characters in the same series.
Prior to BeyWarriors, Cooley had begun building a portfolio of voice work in other animated projects. He provided the voice for a character named Louis in the 2013 animated series Oh No! It's an Alien Invasion. He also voiced a character identified as the Son of Booyah in the series The Dating Guy in 2010. His body of voice work, though limited, places him within a network of Canadian voice actors, with collaborations including actors such as Michael Yarmush and Travis Ferris on various projects.
Cooley's career is overwhelmingly defined by his long-running live-action role as J.T. Yorke on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation, on which he was a main cast member from 2001 to 2007. This role earned him a Young Artist Award in 2002 as part of the show's ensemble cast. His other live-action credits include lead roles in the series I Was a Sixth Grade Alien and appearances in Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Life with Derek, and the Disney Channel movie The Color of Friendship.
