Chisa Suganuma
Description
Chisa Suganuma is a Japanese voice actress from Osaka Prefecture, born on July 29th. She is affiliated with the talent agency Ken Production. Her path to voice acting was shaped by an early and enduring passion for performance; she began learning classical ballet at the age of three and continued until her second year of high school. This background in dance, which involves conveying emotion through physical expression, is often noted as an influence on her work as a performer.
Suganuma's interest in becoming a voice actor was sparked during high school after watching the anime Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, which deeply moved her and made her realize she wanted to be part of the anime industry. To pursue this goal, she enrolled in the voice acting department at Amusement Media Academy in Osaka, graduating in 2013 and receiving the AMG Entertainment Award at her graduation ceremony. She further honed her skills at the training school School Duo as part of its 16th class before officially joining Ken Production on April 1, 2016.
Her professional career began in the mid-2010s with small roles in anime such as Space Brothers and Bakumatsu Rock. Her first major, career-defining role came in 2018 when she was cast as Mamimi Tanaka in the popular franchise The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors. This marked her debut as a regular character in a major multimedia project, a role she has continued to portray across the games, anime adaptations, live concerts, and stage events, becoming closely identified with the character.
In the same year, she also began voicing the pro-hero Ragdoll, a member of the Wild Wild Pussycats team, in the long-running anime series My Hero Academia. These two roles are among her most prominent and showcase her ability to bring both energetic and dynamic characters to life. Beyond these, her anime credits include supporting roles in series such as Chihayafuru 3, Dance Dance Danseur, SK8 the Infinity, Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, and Pokémon Concierge. She has also lent her voice to numerous video games, including Pokemon Masters EX (as Homika), Blue Protocol, and Trials of Mana, further expanding her portfolio in the gaming world.
Suganuma's work is not limited to voice acting in animation and games. Her involvement with The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors includes regular appearances at live concerts and on related radio shows, where she performs as her character. She has also appeared on stage, for instance, in a production of Alice in Wonderland. Among her recognized skills are classical ballet and hula hooping, and her hobbies include playing games, reading manga, and watching animal videos. A notable achievement early in her career was receiving the AMG Entertainment Award upon graduating from voice acting school.
