Rokujūyon Okazawa
Description
Rokujūyon Okazawa is a Japanese author recognized as the original creator of several light novel and manga series within the fantasy and isekai genres. Okazawa first gained attention by writing the light novel series Chillin in My 30s After Getting Fired from the Demon Kings Army, which was serialized on the user-generated novel website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from November 2018 to July 2020. The series was later acquired by Kodansha, which has published three light novel volumes illustrated by Sage Joh since August 2019 under its Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint. This property expanded into a manga adaptation drawn by Rurekuchie, which began serialization in August 2019 and had been collected into multiple tankōbon volumes as of March 2026. The success of the franchise further led to an anime television series adaptation produced by Encourage Films that aired from January to March 2023. Beyond this work, Okazawa is also credited as the original creator of Let's Buy the Land and Cultivate It in a Different World, a manga series that follows a salaryman transported to another world who chooses to live a quiet farming life rather than pursue adventure. This series, which incorporates elements of fantasy and isekai storytelling, has been published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. Across these works, Okazawas creative identity is characterized by the recurring theme of protagonists seeking a peaceful, slow-paced second life in fantasy settings, often focusing on agriculture, community building, and everyday challenges rather than grand heroic quests. This approach has positioned Okazawa as a contributor to the subgenre of comforting, slice-of-life fantasy narratives within the broader isekai and light novel adaptation market.
