Tact Aoki

Description
Tact Aoki, also known as Takuto Aoki, is a Japanese creator born on November 19, 1975, in Tochigi Prefecture. His career in animation began following a background in music; he was the lead vocalist and guitarist for an indie rock band called Shaoguee in the late 1990s. After the band disbanded in 2003, Aoki transitioned into animation production, teaching himself computer-generated animation techniques.

Aoki is most notable for being a solo creator who often writes, directs, produces, and composes music for his own works. He is credited as the original creator, director, screenwriter, and music composer for the original video animation Haruwo, released in 2005. This thirty-minute post-apocalyptic action story was produced entirely by Aoki and was selected for the 17th DoGA CG Animation Contest. His first feature-length film was The Asylum Session in 2009, a 3D CG animated movie for which he again served as director, writer, original creator, and music composer. The story follows a high school girl who runs away from home and becomes involved with a group of squatters living in a stadium. Aoki also directed, wrote, and composed music for the short web series 100 Byou Cinema: Robo to Shoujo (Kari) in 2010, and he worked as an episode director for the television horror series Yami Shibai in 2013.

In the realm of print, Aoki is the author of the manga adaptation of the dark fantasy video game SINoALICE. He is credited with the story for the series, which is based on an original concept by game director Yoko Taro and illustrated by the artist Himiko. The SINoALICE manga was published in North America by Square Enix Manga & Books, with multiple volumes released starting in 2022.

Beyond his own original productions, Aoki has also contributed his 3D computer graphics skills to other projects, such as the web series Catblue Dynamite. His career is defined by a high degree of creative independence, often handling multiple major roles including direction, writing, music, and original concept for a single project, establishing him as a versatile figure in the anime industry.
