Nagomu Torii is a Japanese light novel writer, recognized as the original creator of the Beyond the Boundary franchise. Torii first gained attention in September 2010 when a novel submission titled Shangri-La became a finalist for the sixth Kodansha BOX Newcomer Award Powers, placing second. The following year, Torii submitted the novel Beyond the Boundary to the second Kyoto Animation Awards, where it received an incentive award in the novel category, marking the official start of a professional writing career.

Torii is best known for being the author of the Beyond the Boundary light novel series. The original novel was published in June 2012, followed by two sequels released in April 2013 and October 2013 respectively. The success of the novels led to a multimedia franchise produced by Kyoto Animation. A television anime adaptation aired from October to December 2013, followed by a two-part theatrical anime film, Beyond the Boundary -I'LL BE HERE- Past and Beyond the Boundary -I'LL BE HERE- Future, both released in 2015. Torii is also credited as the original creator for the anime short Beyond the Boundary: Idol Saiban! - Mayoi Nagara mo Kimi o Sabaku Tami.

Torii has a self-professed fondness for eyeglasses and has stated this appreciation publicly. In addition to the Beyond the Boundary series, Torii has continued to write and publish other works, including the earlier novel Shangri-La, on various online platforms. Through the Kyoto Animation大奖, Torii represents one of the success stories of the studio's effort to discover and adapt original literary works into major anime productions.
