Ayumu Asakura
Description
Ayumu Asakura is a Japanese voice actor born on October 18, 1983, in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. He began his voice acting career in 2009 and is affiliated with the talent agency Apte Pro, having previously been with OgiPro The Next. His debut in anime was a significant one, as he landed the role of Iceland in the popular franchise Hetalia.
Asakura is most prominently known for his long-standing association with the Hetalia series. His first performance was as Iceland in the 2010 theatrical film Hetalia: Axis Powers: Paint it, White!. He continued to voice the character of Iceland across various installments of the franchise, including the web anime Hetalia: The World Twinkle in 2015. In addition to Iceland, he also voiced the character of Cameroon in The World Twinkle. His work on the series extended to drama CDs, such as the 2018 release Interval Vol. 3 Nordic Region Five!. In a departure from the personified nations of Hetalia, Asakura voiced the role of Ekashi in the 2019 work Ainu Nenoan Ainu, a piece focusing on Ainu culture.
Beyond his signature role, Asakura has built a diverse portfolio of voice acting work across different media. His television anime credits include minor roles in Natsume's Book of Friends Four in 2012 as a cycling club member and in Jewelpet Kira☆Deko! in 2013 as Handsome D. He has also contributed to video games, with one of his earliest roles being Sakaki Nobuyuki in the 2009 sound novel Voice Novel: Tsuisou no Mukougawa. His career has continued to grow, with roles in more recent productions such as the 2023 animated series Kamierabi and the 2023 video game Octopath Traveler II.
While Asakura is strongly identified with the Hetalia franchise, there is no readily available information pointing to consistent collaborations with specific directors or a distinct pattern of recurring co-stars outside of that series. His notable achievement remains his professional debut, where he secured a principal role in a major franchise and has sustained that character portrayal across movies, web series, and drama CDs for several years, establishing it as his representative work.
