Taishi Zaou

Description
Taishi Zaou is the professional pen name of a Japanese manga artist and illustrator who was born on January 10 in Fukui Prefecture. The creator has been active in the manga industry since 1998 and operates under a dual-pen-name system. While the name Taishi Zaou is used for works in the boys love and girls love genres, the alternate pen name Mikiyo Tsuda is used for comedy shōjo manga. This separation of identities was originally intended to keep the creation of manga focused on homosexual relationships private from family members, though the family eventually became aware.

As an illustrator, Taishi Zaou is best known as the artist for the popular romantic comedy series Love Stage!!, which was created in collaboration with writer Eiki Eiki. The series began publication in 2010 and follows the story of Izumi Sena, the only average member of a family of celebrities who dreams of becoming a manga creator, and his unexpected romance with a famous actor he knew from childhood. Love Stage!! was adapted into a drama CD and subsequently into a ten-episode television anime series that aired in 2014. The manga has been released in multiple languages including English, French, and German.

Beyond Love Stage!!, Taishi Zaou has created a substantial body of manga works. Early titles include Electric Hands from 1998 and The Day of Revolution from 1999 to 2001. Other notable works published under the Taishi Zaou name include Secret Love, Living for Tomorrow, Green Light, Fevered Kiss, Mysterious Love, and Family Complex. Several of these works have been released in English-language editions. The creator also collaborates frequently with Eiki Eiki on various projects, with their co-authored works including Color, Haru Natsu Aki Fuyu, Love DNA Double X, and Back Stage!!, which is a spin-off of Love Stage!! focusing on supporting characters.

The artistic identity of Taishi Zaou is closely associated with boys love and girls love narratives, often exploring romantic relationships between male characters or female characters respectively. The artwork is characterized by a distinct style recognizable to readers of these genres. The creator also produces doujinshi, or independent comics, together with Eiki Eiki under the collaborative circle name Kozouya.

In terms of industry significance, Taishi Zaou has achieved commercial success and international recognition. Works illustrated by the creator have been published across multiple countries and languages. Princess Princess, a shōjo manga created under the Mikiyo Tsuda pen name, was adapted into an anime television series in 2006. The anime adaptation of Love Stage!! further expanded the reach of the creator's work to mainstream audiences. Throughout their career, Taishi Zaou has maintained a consistent presence in the boys love and girls love publishing markets, contributing to the visibility of these genres both within Japan and internationally.
