He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Dustin Brooks, the younger brother of the title character, in the Nickelodeon live-action series Zoey 101, a role he played from 2005 to 2008.

In the realm of voice acting, Butcher is notably recognized for providing the English voice of Kanta in the 2006 Disney English-language dub of the acclaimed Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro.
